That kind of comrade feelings
The week I had for my first reservist training really was a refreshing break. Seeing your good old army kakis once again after 1 year is really rewarding. We can just start any conversation under the sun like what we used to.
Two years ago , we had a video clip of all our moments in 4SIR and the CO arranged a nostalgic session of playing those clips again. Not really entertaining (seen many times) but it still got everyone laughing.
Training in outfields , to me , is another good way to catch up as well. We all have a common goal in this ICT : to finish it tirelessly and yet enjoyed every moment in the camp training. Being in mortar platoon is considered lucky as we have our own vehicles to travel to our training grounds. The ride to and fro the camp takes about 2 hours so we have enough time to feast our eyes on the places we used to go and train along the way.
Since this is the first ICT , the batallion is kind enough to give us a post-celebration or happy hour after our training ends. Get to indulge on cheesecakes and pastries . And of course , beers and champange to go along with
I managed to clear my IPPT in this training. Thanks to my platoon mates who offer the encouragements which really spurred me on.
After bookout , we continued our feastings at Manhatten fish at PS and boogie woogie at Hooters at Clark Quay. We guys don't meet up very often so the outing was really a rewarding finale before we part to get back to our daily lives.
Just thought to myself that in the Army , besides serving your 2.5 years as part of Singapore's rule for all men, I realised this tinge of feel-good feeling call comradeship that exists in the Army. Only when everyone used to suffer together and getting back again , this kind of comradeship develops naturally.
Next year ICT , I'm sure I will go again.
